Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Program at The Wellness Community – Arizona (TWC-AZ). There is a saying that, “Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.” This is especially true at TWC-AZ where everyone wears many hats. As a part of our volunteer network you have the opportunity to “do something” and become involved with an organization that makes a life changing difference in the lives of thousands of people every day.
Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities including: front office administration, community outreach, hands-on event assistance, house maintenance support, library volunteers, mailing committee, seminar and event greeters, and program service support. We can work together to find the right place for you to serve. ??
Whether you are able to help for an hour, several hours, a day, during business hours, evenings, or on the weekend, we would like to talk with you.

When Kara first toured The Wellness Community – Arizona (TWC-AZ) she remembers thinking “what a special place.” Many people in Kara’s life have been affected by cancer. There are “stories of triumph,” but she has lost both of her parents and a dear friend. One of her two brothers is currently undergoing treatment for advanced prostate cancer. She considers it “a privilege to share the intimate journey” of cancer treatment with her loved ones.
Kara is a native of Tucson, holding a Bachelor in Public Administration and a Masters in Human Resource Management. She is the Firm Administrator at a law firm in Chandler. Recently she purchased her first road bike and has learned that; “money is no object when it comes to a comfortable seat, AAA does not respond to flat bike tires, and the thrill of a downhill rush is always preceded by a less thrilling uphill climb.”
Kara began volunteering at TWC-AZ a few years ago, first stuffing and licking envelopes and then joining the Leadership Council. She enjoys coordinating the annual Innovations in Corporate Wellness seminar. Her most memorable moment at TWC-AZ was David Archuleta’s private performance for the Teen Group. Kara recalls, “He talked about his fears of being able to face life’s challenges. In that moment, he was a kid, just like they were. It was a gift to be present to that level of authenticity.”
TWC-AZ makes Kara thinks about the song Stand by Rascal Flatts. “TWC-AZ offers people fighting cancer the support it takes to Stand.” |
