Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Program at The Wellness Community – Arizona (TWC-AZ). There is a saying that, “Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.” This is especially true at TWC-AZ where everyone wears many hats. As a part of our volunteer network you have the opportunity to “do something” and become involved with an organization that makes a life changing difference in the lives of thousands of people every day.

Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities including: front office administration, community outreach, hands-on event assistance, house maintenance support, library volunteers, mailing committee, seminar and event greeters, and program service support. We can work together to find the right place for you to serve.

Whether you are able to help for an hour, several hours, a day, during business hours, evenings, or on the weekend, we would like to talk with you.

You can reach Ariel Fuchs, our Event and Volunteer Coordinator at (602) 712-1006 Ext 204 or afuchs@twccaz.org

Cindy Hoard, a special education teacher and psychologist, began volunteering for The Wellness Community – Arizona in November 2011 after learning about it online. She came to some educational presentations and participated in a support group.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2011 and underwent a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy. Cindy’s family was very supportive, as were her circle of friends!

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Cindy moved to Arizona 47 years ago. She is close to her three sisters, three nieces, one nephew and parents. In her free time she enjoys quilting, crocheting, card making, sewing, beading, and playing the flute. Cindy enjoys spenidng time with her Bijon Frise/ShihTzu mix named Sugar.

Feeling that TWC-AZ has so much to offer Cindy started volunteering. Most of her volunteer activities are office related. Cindy is working on a directory of agencies that offer cancer support services, and often helps with mailings.

When asked what Cindy likes about her experiences volunteering and how she feels about the support given by The Wellness Community – Arizona, she states, “I like the fact that I am able to give back to TWC-AZ and support others on their cancer journey. It is incomparable to any organization that offers cancer support. TWC-AZ is totally here for the many recipients of services. The opportunities are without end and free to so many who are financially having difficulties under the pressures of the cancer journey.”
